I'm sorry

11:42 AM

The silence of the room pointed my eyes towards his hands. The veins on his hands were conspicuous. His hair was white as snow. The curves on the monitor were not that pointy. Wires tangled his body like hundreds of thin snakes.
I don’t remember the last time I was this observant of him. Most probably I never did. Years went by, it never occurred to me to stick by his side nor even getting close to him.
I'm sorry, Grandpa.

p/s: This is a 100-word story that I submitted to receiptstories.my which was instructed by my Creative Writing lecturer. This story is inspired by both of my grandfathers. They passed away years ago and I was never close to both of them. Therefore, I dedicate this to them.
